Today, Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) stated that the Intelligence Committee is continuing to search for any hint of evidence they could find.
The Intelligence Committee’s report clearly discusses Russia’s role in attempting to undermine the 2016 Presidential Election. Russia strived to spread false, negative stories of Secretary Hillary Clinton while promoting then Candidate Donald Trump.
According to Burr, over the past eight months the committee reviewed over 400,000 pages of transcripts of interviews with over 100 officials, reviewed 100,000 pages of classified documents, and has interviewed members of the Obama Administration Cabinet.
Burr noted that the issue of collusion between the Trump Campaign and the Russian Government is still up for investigation. The committee also looked into the change of the GOP platform which softened its stance on Russia.
Inverstiagtors are examining Russia’s social media spread of ‘fake news’ on Facebook, Twitter, and Google.
Dallas Mavericks Owner and business mogul Mark Cuban is considering a 2020 run for president.
This statement was made on Bakari Sellers’ “The Viewpoint” and he went into further detail later on CNBC.
Cuban’s top concerns are healthcare, income inequality, entrepreneurship, and artificial intelligence. He doesn’t mind raising taxes on America’s wealthiest, like himself. He also believes that healthcare is a “right” all Americans deserve.
Cuban’s main reason for not tapping into the presidential race is his family. “90 percent chance he won’t run,” stated the businessman.
Cuban stated that his children have mixed feelings about a possible Candidate Cuban, but his wife is against it. He stated that if his wife changes her opinion, his chances of running for the Oval Office would increase.
Yesterday, the Supreme Court opened for business set to rule on the most controversial and possibly divisive cases in the Court’s history.
Now with the installation of Justice Neil Gorsuch by President Trump, the Supreme Court is back to its original 5-4 majority, based on ideology. Gorsuch replaced staunch conservative Justice Antonin Scalia, who passed away nearly one year ago. However the court could become more partisan as Justice Anthony Kennedy, who is a moderate republican, could retire.
The Court will vote on a number of contentious issues such as the travel ban, immigration, gerrymandering, religious liberty, and cell phone privacy.
According to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, “There is only one prediction that is entirely safe about the upcoming term, and that is it will be momentous.”
This morning, President Trump, in a series of tweets, directed Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to end peace negotiations with North Korea.
This comes as Tillerson met with China’s President Xi Jinping in Beijing. “We can talk to them, we do talk to them,” said Tillerson as he briefly spoke to reporters when asked if the administration has a direct line of communication with the North Korean Government. Trump directed his tweets toward Tillerson saying he should stop, “Wasting his time trying to negotiate with Little Rocket Man.”
This prompted discussions of a possible Tillerson resignation, “Humiliating for Tillerson, but worse, renders him useless. He’ll resign, today or after a brief face-saving interval,” said a former Obama administration official.
Tillerson’s aides quickly denounced the notion of serious peace discussions with the North Korea.
“Being nice to Rocket Man hasn’t worked in 25 years, why would it work now? Clinton failed, Bush failed, and Obama failed. I won’t fail,” tweeted Trump later in the day.
There seems to be a sense of uncertainty and miscommunication from the White House and miscommunication that clearly needs to be addressed.
Hurricane Irma is expected to devastate communities in South Florida tomorrow early in the morning.
Now a category 3, meteorologists are expecting Irma to upgrade, once again, to a category 4.
Irma has already destroyed communities and has damaged homes on islands in the Caribbean Sea. Dutch officials reported earlier today that Irma damages or destroyed 70 percent of St. Maarten homes.
Residents of South Florida are now fearful as they are already receiving high winds and heavy rain from the outskirts of the storm. Over 190,000 homes have lost power in Florida due to the storm.
The storm is currently hovering over parts of South Florida and Northern Cuba.
Former White House Official Steve Bannon was recently interviewed by CBS’s Charlie Rose.
In the interview, Bannon commented on controversial issues such as the Catholic Church’s views on illegal immigrants. Rose asked him, “Can I remind you, a good Catholic, that Cardinal Dolan is opposed to what’s happened with DACA?”
Bannon responded by saying that the Catholic Church was horrible with the issue and, “unable to really – to – to – to come to grips with the problems in the church, they need illegal aliens, they need illegal aliens to fill the churches. That’s – it’s obvious on the face of it. That’s what – the entire Catholic bishops condemn him. … They have – they have an economic interest. They have an economic interest in unlimited immigration.”
These comments have sparked controversy as Cardinal Dolan failed to respond to CBS’s questions about Bannon’s comments.
